Alex Zapien Named as New Lockport Township Supervisor

Alex Zapien assumed the position of Lockport Township Supervisor on June 1st, 2023, succeeding Ron Alberico, who dedicated 17 years of service to the Township. In his new role, Alex takes on the responsibilities of managing town funds as the treasurer, which supports essential infrastructure projects such as road and bridge maintenance, as well as general assistance and senior transportation services. Moreover, he holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Trustees, leading the decision-making process for resource allocation within the community.

Looking ahead, Alex envisions a future where the entire community is included and benefits from ongoing growth and development, while maintaining fiscal responsibility. He firmly believes that the strength of our communities lies in unity and mutual support.

Prior to joining Lockport Township Government, Alex actively contributed to various community organizations. He is a member of the Lockport Lions Club and the Rotary Club. Additionally, he worked as a Civics instructor in Crest Hill, and his professional experience includes people and operations management as well as software engineering.

Alex graduated from Harvard in 2019 with a degree in Physics and Economics and also holds a Master's in Business Administration from the University Of Chicago Booth School Of Business.

Dean Morelli, a Lockport Township Trustee, and a long-time resident of Lockport, expresses his enthusiasm for working alongside Alex, saying he is “very excited to work with Alex and welcomes the energy and drive he brings to the Township”.
