LOCKPORT, IL — The Lockport City Council approved a $204,000 cost for the purchase of maintenance and stormwater protection items for the newly-purchased Chevron property at its Wednesday council meeting.
According to council documents, funds are needed to replace and repair portions of the fence to secure the property; for a stormwater pump generator and pump, needed to protect from flooding, and the installation of an electric service drop, needed for Old Canal Days and other future needs.
Costs will come from capital funds, according to meeting minutes.
The council also discussed repairing an existing fabrication shop building, but decided to wait to see if future land plans call for keeping the building.
At the May 5 council of the whole meeting, Mayor Steve Streit said that there has been some interest in the property, for disc golf and indoor hockey rinks.
