HOMER GLEN, IL — Homer Community Consolidated School District 33C has plans to update its five-year strategic plan, after planning sessions with its strategic planning committee, according to a news release from the District.
The committee, which is made up of community members and staff, met earlier this month to help shape the district's future with broad stakeholder input, a news release shared.
The entire community and all district staff were invited to participate in a survey to share their perspectives on six key discussion areas identified by the Board of Education. Survey respondents could also express interest in joining the Strategic Planning Committee, the District said.
The Strategic Planning Committee was composed of 67 members, including 33 community members–nine of whom were current or former students–and 34 members of administration and staff.
“It was really meaningful to have students, families, staff, and community members together in the same space to help inform a plan not just for the community, but with the community. We’re grateful for their time, honesty, and engagement,” said Superintendent Dr. Craig Schoppe.
The six discussion areas were Curriculum and Instruction, Student Needs, Facilities, Human Resources, Finance, and Communications.
“The strategic plan is just that–we’re being proactive and strategic about the future and identifying what matters most–while being good stewards of the families and community we serve. The plan will set new goals that have 12-month benchmarks to assess our progress each year so that we can adjust and adapt in a changing educational landscape,” said School Board President Chris Trzeciak.
With the community input phase complete, the Board of Education and 33C Administrative team will now refine the goal language under each specified discussion area and develop detailed action plans. The final plan is expected to be presented at the May 26 Board of Education meeting, the District said.
