LOCKPORT, IL — At its meeting on Wednesday, the Lockport City Council awarded the lead replacement project to Superior Excavating Co., for $828,740.
Director of Public Works & Engineering Brian Lovering said this project will replace the final 60 lead water service lines "putting us about a decade ahead of the U.S. EPA's requirement to have them all done by 2037."
The City allocated $852,000 in the budget for construction on this project. Three contractors submitted bids, and the lowest responsible bid was Superior Excavating Co., according to council documents.
"This proactive investment underscores the City's commitment to providing residents with a safe, reliable drinking water and maintaining high standards for public health and infrastructure," Council documents state.
