She is a foreign exchange student from Spain and I am her host mom.

Tell us about your star student's accomplishments and why they deserve to be recognized on Patch!

Gracie has lived with me since August. She has studied very hard to obtain excellent grades in a language that is not her native tongue. She has done this while creating a new life with my family, building lasting friendships with classmates and competing in three sports throughout the year.

Additionally, she recently became the MVP of her badminton team, competing at the state tournament and finishing in the top eight in the state of Illinois — all while maintaining a GPA higher than 3.5 in a foreign country while learning the culture and language.

She has truly become a master of the language, and I am so proud of her.

What three words best describe your star student?

Determined, hard working, and creative.
