LOCKPORT, IL — The City of Lockport has announced that it will begin a five-year review and update of its Star Innovation District master plan, according to a news release.
In May 2027, the District's master plan will reach its five-year anniversary.
City officials said that periodically revisiting and updating master plans is a standard planning practice intended to ensure long-term community planning documents remain aligned with evolving economic conditions, infrastructure considerations, community priorities, and regional development trends.
The first master plan was adopted in 2022 after a community-driven planning process. The plan established a long-term vision for the former Chevron property and
surrounding areas, the City said.
As the review process begins, the City will engage residents, stakeholders and planning professionals to evaluate the current plan and consider potential updates reflecting changing conditions and future opportunities for the district.
More information on public engagement opportunities will come at a later date, according to the City.
