LOCKPORT, IL — At its Wednesday meeting, the Lockport City Council approved a special use permit for a resale shop in downtown Lockport.
The resale shop, ThrifTea, will be located at 123 E. Ninth St.
According to Council documents, ThrifTea Inc. is a nonprofit specializing in the resale of quality items, and exists in conjunction with Refuge Mental Health Services.
"Revenue generated from ThrifTea will fund low-cost or no-cost professional counseling services at the Refuge for community members who would not otherwise have access," Council documents state.
Lockport City Code states that donations must be done inside the building and only accepted during normal business hours. Donations can't be dropped off or left outside the building.
