LTHS Board Seeking Applications For Board Vacancy

LOCKPORT, IL — The LTHS Board of Education has announced that Board Member Lou Ann Johnson has submitted her resignation, effective July 31.

The Board is now seeking applications to fill the vacancy.

Johnson was appointed to the Board in 2009, and has served more than 17 years.

"Throughout her tenure, she remained committed to educational excellence and to ensuring students have the tools and opportunities needed to become tomorrow's leaders," the district said in a news release. Johnson is an active community member, serving as a trustee at Second Baptist Church in Joliet, and also serving with the National Hook-Up of Black Women (NHBW), Inc., Joliet Area Congregation Based
Organization, Northeastern Illinois Agency on Aging, Community Life Ministries, Church Women
United, Guardian Angel Community Services Board, and Advocates United for Joliet Children.

"Lou Ann Johnson has served Lockport Township High School District since 2009 in addition to her numerous other civic contributions. We hope to find someone to replace her who has the same passion and commitment to public service and high school students,” said Superintendent Dr. Robert McBride.

The individual appointed by the Board to fill this vacancy will serve until the April 2027 election.

According to the District, interested individuals must submit:

● A letter expressing interest in serving on the Board of Education.
● A resume or curriculum vitae outlining qualifications and experience.

The application deadline is noon on Aug. 4. The District said applicants must:
● Be a citizen of the United States.
● Be at least 18 years of age.
● Be a registered voter.
● Have been a resident of Illinois and Lockport Township High School District 205 for at least
one year prior to appointment.
● Not be disqualified from serving under Illinois law.

Letters of interest should include:
● Name, address, phone number, and email address.
● Number of years residing within District 205.
● Community leadership experience, including board service.
● Professional background.
● Educational background.
● Reasons for seeking appointment.
● Goals for Lockport Township High School District 205.
