The occupants were home and able to evacuate safely. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, while performing suppression, search, ventilation, salvage and
overhaul operations, the fire district said.

Firefighters also rescued four cats from the home and reunited them with the family, the fire district said. No injuries were reported.

The residents are unable to stay in the home and are being helped by family and friends.

The fire was elevated to a "full still alarm level", bringing in equipment and personnel from East Joliet, Homer, Lemont, Northwest Homer, Bolingbrook, Plainfield, and Romeville to the scene to assist with covering the remainder of the fire district.

The Lockport Fire Investigators are investigating the cause of the fire; it does not appear suspicious at this time, the fire district said.
