Will County Vote By Mail Ballots Will Start Mailing Out Sept. 24

WILL COUNTY, IL — Will County Clerk Annette Parker has announced that vote by mail ballots for the Nov. 3 General Election will start mailing out on Sept. 24 as planned.

The clerk's announcement follows the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to deny the request to allow new U.S. Postal Service requirements for election mail to take effect for the 2026 election, according to a news release. The decision leaves in place a lower court ruling blocking implementation of the new requirements for this election.

As a result, the Will County Clerk's Office will continue with its established Vote By Mail procedures and previously announced mailing schedule, the clerk's office said.

"We want Will County voters to have clear, accurate and timely information about what this decision means for them," said Will County Clerk Annette Parker. "The Supreme Court's decision provides clarity as we move forward with the November election. Our office has been preparing for this election for months, and we remain ready to provide voters with secure, convenient and accessible options to cast their ballots."

Once a ballot is received, voters are encouraged to carefully review all instructions, complete their ballot and return it promptly. The clerk's office said that completed Vote By Mail ballot envelopes may be returned by mail or to a designated Vote By Mail ballot drop box located throughout Will County.

Voters choosing to return their ballot by mail are encouraged to allow sufficient time for delivery and receipt by the Will County Clerk's Office, according to a news release. Voters using a ballot drop box should follow all posted instructions and return their ballot to an authorized drop box.

Early voting also begins Sept. 24 at the Will County Clerk's Office in Joliet. Several other early voting sites in communities across the county will open in October.
