HOMER GLEN, IL - October 22, 2026 – Providence Life Services recently welcomed Teepa Snow, world-renowned dementia care expert, and her team of Positive Approach to Care ® (PAC) experts for a week of advanced dementia care education and training. The goal of this is to provide the PLS memory care teams with additional competencies for best caring for residents, through relationship-led, people first methodology.
Two in five people are at risk of developing dementia or a similar chronic brain disease in their lifetime. Dementia not only affects the person living with this disease, but also the families and caregivers who may be struggling to cope with this debilitating cognitive impairment.
At Providence Life Services, we believe that all affected by this condition deserve the best care, and to have a full and enriched life.
This is why we partnered with this incredible organization and have made the commitment to continuously improving our approach to compassionate practical dementia care. Through the education offered our teams will have gained knowledge that allows them to better meet residents where they're at, provide a less stressful and balanced life, and have more meaningful interactions.
As a part of Providences' week of dementia care training, the leadership team completed the Positive Approach® to Leadership certification, while 16 memory care team members began their in-person certification process to become Dementia Educators for their facilities.
Teepa Snow spent hands-on time with both care providers and leadership and even visited the residents in the Victorian Village memory care unit. The Providence Life Services team gained valuable insight through hands-on training and real-life examples taught by Teepa Snow and her team of educators. This training will be instrumental in continuing to provide residents with the best quality, person-centered dementia care.
"To spend time with Teepa and her team learning the Positive Physical Approach™ was truly invaluable. I am so excited to grow our knowledge and skills, and to be prepared to support our residents and families to the fullest." Heather Gomez, Director of Education, Providence Life Services.
