Arrest Made In Slaying Of Lockport Mom, Baby

On Oct. 2, 2020, 32-year-old Ashtin Eaton and her 1-year-old daughter Hazel Skye Bryant were found dead at a house in Lockport.

LOCKPORT, IL — A 28-year-old man from Crestwood was booked into the Will County Jail on Wednesday facing numerous counts of first-degree murder in connection with the Oct. 2, 2020 deaths of a Lockport mother and her baby daughter.

Bail for Anthony Maggio has been set at $10 million.

It's been more than two years since the deaths of Ashtin Eaton, 32, and her 1-year-old girl Hazel Skye Bryant. Wednesday's arrest was made by the Lockport Police Department, jail records show.

According to Eaton's obituary, the Lockport woman was born in Joliet and graduated from Lockport High School, and she worked for several years at the Joliet Amazon warehouse. The obituary stated that Hazel died unexpectedly in the presence of her mother, also on Oct. 2, 2020.

"She was the light of everyone’s life and a bright little star whose light went dim way too soon," Hazel's obituary from O'Neil Funeral Home in Lockport stated.

Lockport-Homer Glen Patch previously reported that Lockport police first responded to a call at 8:17 a.m. on Oct. 2, 2020, reporting a person found dead in the 900 block of South Hamilton Street. Officers found Eaton, 32, who was dead with her wrists cut. The 14-month-old little girl was also found dead, but had no apparent signs of trauma to her body, according to police at the time.

The person who called Lockport police was a relative of the 32-year-old woman, authorities said back in 2020.
