Mary Theresa Ehrler

“The premise of my work is archetypes. This particular piece is an excellent example of the subconscious awareness expressed through Art Therapy. It is a noted fact that the subconscious awareness, including premonition, is expressed in art. This piece expresses Soul awareness of physical nerves and bones affected by an undetected trauma to the body. The surrounding figure/portal represents the dream self. The golden temples in the background represent learning. The shapes and intervals of Soul coming into this world, experiencing learning, what are these experiences, and how, as Soul, does herself recognize what she is learning in her life. As a woman these intervals are often the experience of childbirth, love relationships, family relations, and singular. These intervals take energy from the woman’s body, affecting her relationship with the physical world in ways that are often to her detriment. What is left for her after these experiences? How does this affect her future experiences?”
