Cooling Centers In Homer Glen, Lockport

The hottest weather in seven years is expected at the end of the week.

HOMER GLEN-LOCKPORT, IL — With the hottest weather in seven years expected across the area, residents are reminded that there are cooling centers open across Will County for those who may be in need.

In Homer Glen, the Homer Glen Village Hall is open during the day or by request as a cooling center. The village hall is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is located at 14240 W. 151st St.

In Lockport, Lockport City Hall, at 222 E. Ninth St., is open during the day as a cooling center. The city hall is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Lockport Township government building is also open as a cooling center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The building is located at 1463 S. Farrell Road.

Dangerous heat and temperatures close to 100 degrees are expected starting Thursday and continuing through at least Saturday. The National Weather Service said the heat index, which is how hot it feels when humidity is taken into account, will climb up to 110 degrees for most of the area.
