Coronavirus: Old Canal Days Canceled For 2020
The annual event is usually held every year in downtown Lockport, but has been canceled due to the coronavirus.
LOCKPORT, IL — The Old Canal Days in Lockport scheduled for June has been canceled, Mayor Steven Streit confirmed at the April 15 city council meeting. The annual event is usually held every year in downtown Lockport, and includes a carnival, entertainment and a beer garden.
Due to the coronavirus, Gov. J.B. Pritzker has suggested canceling large summer events.
The event was planned for June 18-21. According to the chamber, the decision was "difficult," but the chamber board felt it was necessary and in accordance with Pritzker’s executive orders and current recommended guidelines established by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
