Dangerous Heat Expected For Will County Starting Monday

WILL COUNTY, IL — The first heat wave of the summer is headed to northern Illinois starting next week, including in Will County.

"High temperatures and humidity will impact Will County beginning next week," the sheriff's office said on its Facebook page. "Please take steps now to stay safe and protect others."

The Will County Sheriff's Office advised residents to stay hydrated throughout the day, stay cool and spend time in air-conditioned places, check on elderly neighbors and those without AC, and never leave anyone in a hot car.

Heat index values may be higher than 100 degrees on both Monday and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. The high for Joliet on Monday is 92 degrees, 94 on Tuesday, 95 on Wednesday and 95 on Thursday.

"Dangerous heat with afternoon heat index values over 100 degrees is expected beginning Monday and will likely continue well into next week," the weather service said.
