HOMER GLEN, IL — A Will County Sheriff's deputy has hired a Chicago law firm to sue Dinolfo's Banquets & Events in connection with an arrest he made last April at Dinolfo's that left him seriously injured, according to court records.

Wednesday's lawsuit was filed by Deputy Brendan Davis, who has retained the personal injury law firm of Saks, Robinson and Rittenberg. The Will County civil lawsuit does not name the person Davis being arrested at DiNolfo's on April 16, 2022, Pierre Stevenson, who is now charged in Will County with the felony crime of resisting a peace officer.

Last June, a bench warrant was issued for Stevenson, who comes from Chicago's LaFayette Avenue. The 39-year-0ld Stevenson was served with his arrest warrant in January at the Cook County Jail where he's being held on unrelated charges of assault, fleeing, unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest.

According to Wednesday's Will County civil lawsuit:

On April 16, 2022, DiNolfo's Banquets & Events sold or gave alcohol to Stevenson and the alcohol Stevenson consumed "caused his intoxication ... and as a result of the intoxication, Pierre Stevenson assaulted numerous persons, resulting in his restraint and arrest by Will County Sheriff's deputies, including the plaintiff, Brendan Davis."

The lawsuit states that Deputy Davis suffered personal injuries to his shoulder "and was permanently injured and disabled from his normal life and disfigured."

At the time of arresting Stevenson, Davis was met with belligerence, noncompliance and physical resistance "which resulted in Brendan Davis sustaining serious injuries," his lawsuit argued.

Davis' lawsuit seeks a judgment in his favor of more than $50,000 from DiNolfo's Banquets & Events.

A representative of DiNolfo's declined to comment on the lawsuit when contacted Thursday morning by Joliet Patch.
