District 205 Names New Lockport East Principal

LOCKPORT, IL — The Lockport Township High School District 205 Board of Education has named a new principal for Lockport East Campus. Dr. John Greenan will succeed Dennnis Hicks, who is retiring at the end of the school year, the district said.

Greenan has served District 205 for the past 17 years in a number of significant roles, as teacher, coach, dean and most recently Assistant Principal at East Campus. During his tenure, the district said he has demonstrated his commitment to serve and inspire the district’s students. Greenan’s leadership skills and personal qualities distinguished him among the 40 applicants. Greenan earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree from the University of St. Francis.

"Dr. Greenan has the presence, integrity, demeanor, and vision to carry on the strong leadership already present at the East Campus under the leadership of Dennis Hicks," Dr. Robert McBride said in a release.

The district said the selection of Greenan represents another integral step for McBride in building his leadership team, as he replaces retiring Superintendent Dr. Todd Wernet.

On March 18, the Board of Education also approved Lorie Cristofaro as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. The district said Cristofaro has 25 years of experience in public schools. Her teaching career began in Social Studies at Elmwood Park High School and extended to her teaching at Glenbard East High School where she also served as a curriculum developer and assistant department chair. She was appointed as the Social Studies Department Chair at Waubonsie Valley High School in 2009, and then successfully obtained her current role as the Assistant Principal for Instruction at Glenbard South High School where she has worked since 2013.
