District 33C Board Honors ILMEA Chorus, Band Students

The student musicians participated in ILMEA festivals in November.

HOMER GLEN, IL — At its board meeting earlier this morning, the District 33C Board of Education honored the Illinois Music Education Association chorus members and band members from the district.

The district said Sarah Clawson and Tommy Boguslawski were honored for being selected by audition to the ILMEA District I Honor Band that performed at a Nov. 6 festival. District 33C student Kurt Biggus was nominated to perform with the ILMEA District I Junior Clinic Jazz Band on Nov. 13, according to the district.

For chorus, Olivia Sweeney, Samantha Dobrzanski and Jake Chentnik were honored by the board. Olivia is a soprano and a section leader in Concert Chorale and The Homer Show Choir, the district said. Samantha is an alto and section leader in Concert Chorale and The Homer Show Choir, and Jake is a baritone/tenor and leader in his section of Concert Chorale.

All three students have devoted many hours of rehearsal and preparation in order to submit their audition for the ILMEA Festival Chorus, according to the district.
