District 33C Seventh Grader Will Compete At State GeoBee
. Clark will compete at the state competition on March 29 at Heartland Community College in Normal.
HOMER GLEN, IL — District 33C seventh grader Jameson Clark has been chosen as a finalist for 2019 National GeoBee State Competition. The district said Clark was chosen as the school champion and then took an online qualifying test, which was submitted to the National Geographic Society.
The top 100 scoring students were then chosen to attend the state GeoBee. Clark, who attends Homer Junior High, will compete at the state competition on March 29 at Heartland Community College in Normal.
State champions then travel to the National Geographic Headquarters to compete in the national championship. The National Championship will be held May 19-22 in Washington, D.C.

According to the event website, the national champion will receive a $25,000 college scholarship, $1,000 in cash, a lifetime membership in National Geographic Society, and a trip to the Galapagos Islands.
