Dr. Schefke Installed as 2024 Secretary of the Chicago Dental Society

General dentist Philip Schefke, D.D.S., of Lockport, Illinois, was sworn in as 2024 Secretary of the Chicago Dental Society (CDS) on November 12. Dr. Schefke is a long-time member of CDS and has served on multiple committees as well as held multiple leadership positions with CDS, including Treasurer and Vice President of CDS and President of the CDS South Suburban Branch.

As Secretary, Dr. Schefke will play a central role in planning and driving attendance for the 159th Midwinter Meeting, which will be held at McCormick Place West in Chicago, February 22 – 24, 2024. The Midwinter Meeting is CDS’ annual scientific meeting and one of the dental industry’s premier events. The 2024 event will provide attendees with access to more than 230 world-class courses taught by today’s leaders in the dental profession, hundreds of live exhibits to test the latest dental innovations, and countless networking opportunities with colleagues and friends.

Dr. Schefke holds two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Illinois and DePaul University and earned his dental degree from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. In addition to his leadership roles with CDS, he serves as a member and Delegate of the Illinois State Dental Society and the American Dental Association as well as a member of the American College of Dentists and International College of Dentists. Dr. Schefke previously served on the Adjunct Faculty at Prairie State Hygiene School and has been a full-time Assistant Professor at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine since 2014. He has also served in leadership roles with the Dental Arts Club of Chicago as President and is a Board Member of the Dental Lifeline Network, a nonprofit providing fragile populations access to dental care.

Dr. Schefke lives in Lockport, Illinois with his wife, and practiced in both Tinley Park and Orland Park, Illinois, from 1988 to 2014. He has three grown children, Claudia, Madeline, and Luke. He is a founding member of the Chicago Dental Ski Team and an avid bicycle rider. In his free time, Dr. Schefke likes to dabble in pour painting, collect books, and volunteer with various organizations, like Mission of Mercy.

Established in 1864, CDS is the largest local component of the American Dental Association, with more than 4,000 members in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties.
