Easter Brunch 2018: Options Near Homer Glen, Lockport

HOMER GLEN-LOCKPORT, IL — This year, Easter falls on Sunday, April 1. And while it coincides with April Fool's Day, you'd be wise to let someone else do the cooking (not to mention the cleanup) by taking the family out to Easter breakfast or brunch.

Whether you celebrate the holiday or not, here are some places serving up meals on Easter Sunday. While many of these local eateries don't require a reservation, you may be able to avoid long wait times by calling ahead:

• Old Fashioned Pancake House, 2022 W. Jefferson St., Joliet - This family owned casual restaurant has offered up everything from crepes to waffles and more since 1986.
• Big Apple Pancake House, 106 N. Larkin, Joliet - Another family owned eatery, Big Apple offers breakfast and lunch (and huge portions, according to at least one Yelp! review).
• The Southern Cafe, 1819 Knapp St., Crest Hill - Founded in 2015, the eatery calls itself "a mix of good old home cooking and a dash of culinary genius."
• Niko's Breakfast Club - 38 S. Weber Road, Romeoville - This friendly breakfast spot offers fresh-squeezed juices, home-style cooking and generous portions.
• Tasty Waffle - 624 S. Weber Road, Romeoville - Open since 2006 and family owned, offering everything from eggs to stuffed French toast, crepes and skillets.

These area businesses are offering up Easter brunch events, but you'd better book ahead:

McWethy's Tavern, 1700 W. Renwick Road, Romeoville is serving up an Easter brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. including photos with the Easter Bunny. The cost is $50 for adults and free for kids age 12 and under. Holiday goodies include a carving station with garlic prime rib and honey-glazed ham, smoked salmon and fresh seafood, roasted pork loin, an egg station with custom omelettes and eggs your way, plus a kids corner with chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, tater tots, French toast sticks and more. Reservations can be made online.

Ruffled Feathers Golf Club, 1 Pete Dye Drive, Lemont, will host an Easter Brunch with seatings every half hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call for reservations at 630-257-1000, ext. 252.

Prairie Bluff Golf Course/P.B. Mulligan's, 19433 Renwick Road, Lockport, will host an Easter Brunch with seatings at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Call 815-836-4653, ext. 14, for details and reservations.

Public Landing, 200 W. Eighth St., Lockport, will host an Easter Brunch for groups of five or more. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a reservation. Call 815-838-6500 for a reservation.
