HOMER GLEN, IL — A new music school will be opening soon in Homer Glen. Edge Music Academy, 15750 S. Bell Road, Suite 2E, will hold its official opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. July 28.

According to a release from the business, Edge Music Academy offers lessons to children and adults of all ages on a variety of instruments including piano, guitar, ukulele, voice, bass guitar, violin, viola and drums.

The academy was founded by Jason Thompson, who is from Tinley Park, with the goal of providing high quality music lessons that are also fun for kids.

“Most music schools either focus too much on strict and traditional music, which takes the fun out of it, or they make it too much about the fun rock band aspect and forget that music is a skill that does take discipline and provides critical learning opportunities,” Thompson said in a release. The academy aims to bridge the gap between these two methods of teaching, according to the business.

Edge has been around for several years in the suburbs, and Thompson has been teaching for over 10 years, but the business will have its first brick-and-mortar location in Homer Glen.

There will also be raffle prizes and giveaways, including several musical instruments, the business said.
