Fire Causes Extensive Damage To Unincorporated Lockport Home

All occupants of the home were accounted for, and there were no reported injuries, the fire district said.

LOCKPORT, IL — A fire caused extensive damage to a home in the 200 block of Sheffield Avenue on Saturday, according to a release from the Lockport Township Fire Protection District.

The structured fire was reported at 10:43 a.m. Saturday on the first floor of a small two-story, single-family home in unincorporated Lockport, the fire district said.

The fire quickly traveled into the attic, and it was extinguished within an hour. The fire district said that overhaul operations were "extensive," due to the location of the fire and the travel throughout the home.

The fire was elevated to a "full still," which brought in additional apparatus and manpower to the scene, according to the fire district. Firefighters spent two hours at the scene for extinguishment and overhaul. Neighboring departments assisted with the fire, and also handled numerous other emergencies throughout the district.

All occupants of the home were accounted for, and there were no reported injuries, the fire district said.

The Red Cross assisted with providing shelter for the occupants, the fire district said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Lockport Fire investigators, and members of the MABAS 19 fire investigation team.
