There were no occupants in the home at the time of the fire. The fire district said a neighbor saw a lightning strike and saw smoke, before calling 911 and reporting the incident.
The incident was initially upgraded to a "full still" and then a "box alarm" due to the fire conditions in the home, the fire district said. Crews were at the scene for three hours to check for extension of any fire and assist the homeowner.
