Fire, Smoke Damages Lockport Home: Fire District

Firefighters responded at 3:47 p.m. Monday, and found smoke showing from a home, with a fire in the kitchen area, the fire district said.

LOCKPORT, IL — A home on Valley Lane in Lockport was damaged by smoke and fire Monday, according to the Lockport Township Fire Protection District.

Firefighters responded at 3:47 p.m. Monday, and found smoke showing from a home, with a fire in the kitchen area, the fire district said. The fire was controlled quickly by the first firefighters on scene, and overhaul and checking for fire in the attic was completed by additional crews.

The residents were home at the time of the fire, and were able to safely evacuate before firefighters arrived, the fire district said.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental but is being investigated by the Lockport Fire
Investigators, the fire district said.
