Forest Preserve Offers Night Hike In Messenger Woods

HOMER GLEN, IL — If you're interested in what flies around once the sun goes down, the Forest Preserve District of Will County will host a Fly By Night Hike on Aug. 5.

You must register for the event by Aug. 4. The night hike will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Messenger Woods Nature Preserve in Homer Glen.

The event is free and for those 10 and older.

According to the preserve, the night hike will highlight nocturnal wildlife that takes to the air, and will track Will County bats using handheld technology.

The hike will be 1.5 to 2 miles on natural surfaces across uneven ground, the preserve said.
