Fundraiser Planned For Homer Glen Family Who Lost Home To Fire

Proceeds from the event will go to the Alexandros/Gatses family, who lost their home in a fire on Nov. 14.

HOMER GLEN, IL — A fundraiser will be held to help a Homer Glen family who recently lost their home in a fire. According to the village, the fundraiser will be sponsored by the Homer Glen Area Chamber of Commerce and hosted by Village Clerk Ann Holtz and owner of Rubi Agave Ruben Pamino. Proceeds from the event will go to the Alexandros/Gatses family, who lost their home in a fire on Nov. 14.

Event organizers said the family's home in the Pebble Creek subdivision caught on fire around 2:30 a.m. Nov. 14. The entire family, which consists of Christine Alexandros, her 16-year-old twins Georgia and Jennie, 12-year-old twins Nicholas and Cristos, and Christine's parents Tom and Jennie Gatses, were able to make it out of the fire. Christine was briefly trapped in the home when debris fell and trapped her in the lower level of the home, but she was able to crawl out a window.

The fire started in the garage and it took 5 hours for the fire department to extinguish the fire. Event organizers said the family has lost everything, including pets and both cars. The family is currently living in a hotel while they look for a temporary home.
