Gazebo Planned For Heritage Park Project

The gazebo will be a feature of the sensory garden located in the Active Core Area of the community park.

HOMER GLEN, IL — A gazebo will now be part of the Village of Homer Glen’s Heritage Park development thanks to a generous grant from the Homer Glen Junior Woman’s Club. The village said the gazebo will be a feature of the sensory garden located in the Active Core Area of the community park. Other amenities of the Active Core area will include a challenge course, fitness area, bean bag platforms, bocce and horseshoe courts, pickle ball courts, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts and a nature-based playground.

Every year, HGJWC and its various committees actively organize programs throughout the community as well as raise funds for local charities and philanthropic purposes, according to the village. A portion of the funds that the organization raises are intended to be utilized for the beautification of parks and open spaces, as well as to provide a legacy for the club in Homer Glen.

“Our members felt the gazebo would provide a perfect fit for both of these purposes,” HGJWC President Karen Hill-Davis said in a release. The club voted to provide a $24,000 Legacy Project Grant to the Village of Homer Glen to be used toward constructing a gazebo in Heritage Park.
