There will be free document shredding, medication take-back and more offered at the event.

HOMER GLEN, IL — State Sen. John Curran and Rep. Jim Durkin will hold a Go Green event on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Homer Junior High School, 15711 S. Bell Road. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and will offer free document shredding, medication take-back (no needles) and will take donations of gently-used clothing, bicycles, housewares and more.

“The goal is to offer families an opportunity to shred confidential documents, get rid of unused prescriptions, and donate usable items to local charitable organizations,” Curran said in a release.

No television sets or electronics of any kind will be accepted at this event. Acceptable items include: toys, working appliances, sporting goods, 2x4s, plywood and tools.

"As we move into the fall season, this event is a great opportunity for community members to clear out unwanted clutter and items that unnecessarily take up space in their homes," Durkin said in a release. "Appropriately disposing these items through our Go Green event not only benefits the environment, but also helps those in need who could use repurposed appliances, electronics, bicycles and much more.”
