Homer Glen Approves $149K For Holiday Lights, Decor

The purchase includes a custom walk-thru hot cocoa mug, which will have mist that will smell like hot chocolate.

HOMER GLEN, IL — Homer Glen will be decked out in holiday lights and decor this holiday season. At its Aug. 14 meeting, the village board approved a purchase of $149,359.25 for holiday decor from Artistic Holiday Designs. The amount is payable over three years in the annual amount of $49,786.42.

As part of planning for "Homer For The Holidays," village staff reached out to Artistic Holiday Designs in Lemont to look for holiday decor ideas for the Active Core in Heritage Park, board documents state.

The purchase of the holiday decor includes: 21 large 3D decor items, 66 tree spritzers, a gazebo light curtain, 28 flood lights for trees, 400 mini light strands for tree wraps and 28 light pole decors.

According to board documents, the large 3D decor items will include a 32-foot double cone tree and a custom walk-thru hot cocoa mug, which will have mist that will smell like hot chocolate. The lights are LED and have a 2-year warranty, with a life expectancy of over 10 yeras.

In addition to the new decor, the village can also use "Loomie," which is an augmented reality app. According to the board documents, the app will work in a specific area of the display and will allow visitors to play interactive games.

The board had to approve the order in August to allow for a November installation.
