Homer Glen Approves $241K Budget For HomerFest 2024

HOMER GLEN, IL — At its meeting on Oct. 11, the Homer Glen Village Board approved a budget of $241,300 for its 2024 Homer Community Festival.

The annual event is the main community event every year, according to Board documents. In 2023, the fest expenses totaled $213,338.70, and revenues were $286,803.25.

The 2023 approved budget was $246,600, according to Board documents, but expenses came in under budget.

Some of the biggest proposed expenses for the 2024 fest include security ($30,000), bands ($40,000), and fireworks and insurance ($36,100), according to board documents.

"We're looking forward to a great fest again for 2024," Trustee Dan Fialko, who chairs the Homer Community Festival committee, said.

Trustee Curtis Mason said he would like to see more volunteers for the festival, since labor costs for the Village's parks department or public works aren't included in the expenses for the fest.
