Homer Glen Board Approves 2026 Events

HOMER GLEN, IL — At its Wednesday meeting, the Homer Glen Village Board approved its 2026 events calendar, with an estimated cost of $111,800.

The Village has a sponsorship goal of $33,500 for its calendar of events this year. This event list does not include Homer Fest, which has an additional budget.

According to Board documents, a similar schedule of events is proposed for 2026 after a successful slate of events in 2025.

Trustee Robert Schaller asked if the Village could hold an event for 9/11, as it is the 25th anniversary in 2026.

"Absolutely," Mayor Christina Neitzke-Troike responded.

Neitzke-Troike also asked about a birthday party for Homer Glen, as the Village is celebrating its 25th anniversary in April this year.

Events Director Dan Waddick said there is no specific event planned, but that several events through the year will celebrate and acknowledge Homer Glen's birthday.

• Food Drive for Lockport FISH Food Pantry, April 6 through April 17, with an estimated expense of $0
• Shred Event, April 19 in front of Village Hall, estimated expense of $0
• Volunteer Appreciation, April 24 in the community room, $1,000 estimated expenses
• Tulips & Gnomes in the Park, May 1-29 in Heritage Park, $800 estimated expenses
• Stargazing (sponsored by the environment committee), May 15, estimated expenses from the environment committee budget
• Kite Fest, May 9 at Heritage Park, $1,000 estimated expenses
• Kids Fishing Derby, May 30 at Heritage Park, $1,500 estimated expenses
• Community-Wide Garage Sale, June 5-6, $1,000 estimated expenses
• Food Truck Friday/Chalk It Up, June 12 at Heritage Park, $1,000 estimated expenses
• Movie Under the Stars, July 10, $3,000 in estimated expenses
