Homer Glen, Lockport Extreme Cold: Closures, E-Learning Days

Several schools in Homer Glen and Lockport will have an e-learning day on Friday.

HOMER GLEN-LOCKPORT, IL — With dangerously cold wind chills expected Friday, many schools are moving to e-learning, and libraries and other organizations are closing for the day. In Homer Glen and Lockport, closures include:

  • Lockport Township High School will have an e-learning day on Friday.
  • Will County School District 92, e-learning day on Friday. All D92 buildings will be closed.
  • Homer District 33C will have an e-learning day on Friday.

Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero are expected for the Chicago area on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. An extreme cold warning has been issued from 3 a.m. to noon on Friday for the area.

The cold will begin Thursday night, when temperatures could get as low as -14, and wind chills could be as low as 40 below zero. The cold continues into Friday morning, and by Friday afternoon, wind chills could still be as low as 25 below zero, according to the weather service.
