Homer Glen, Lockport Providence Students Named Illinois State Scholars

Thirteen students from Homer Glen and Lockport, who attend Providence Catholic High School, were recognized as Illinois State Scholars.

HOMER GLEN-LOCKPORT, IL — Thirteen Providence Catholic High School students from Homer Glen and Lockport have been recognized as Illinois State Scholars, according to a release from the school. 46 total students from the Class of 2023 were recognized with the honor, which represents 26 percent of the class.

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission, the state’s college access and financial aid agency, presents this recognition of academic achievement to exceptional Illinois high school students annually, the school said. This year, more than 17,000 honorees join the other outstanding students who have been honored since the designation was first introduced in 1958.

“We are very proud of our Illinois State Scholars,” Principal Paul Houston said in a release. “This is quite an academic achievement. Their commitment to excellence in academics truly defines them as leaders in the Providence Catholic community. We congratulate them on this success and look forward to seeing what they accomplish as they continue their academic careers.”
