Homer Glen, Lockport Ranked Among The Safest Cities In Illinois

HOMER GLEN-LOCKPORT, IL — Homer Glen and Lockport were both recently named on the list of Illinois' 50 Safest Cites of 2019, according to a report from Safewise. Both towns ranked in the top 10 on the list.

Homer Glen came in at No. 4 on the list, which reports that the town has a violent crime rate of .16 per 1,000 people and a property crime rate of 5.11 per 1,000. Lockport came in at No. 10 on the list, and had a violent crime rate of .28 per 1,000 people and a property crime rate of 8.43 per 1,000.

Safewise lists the population of Homer Glen at 24,516 and the median income at $97,254. Lockport had a population listed at 25,280 and a median income of $85,023.

Illinois itself has a violent crime rate of 5.28 per 1,000 people, according to Safewise. The safest community in Illinois was listed as Campton Hills which had a violent crime rate of 0 per 1,000.
