Homer Glen Mayor Ousts Village Manager

Cameron Davis has been working as an at-will employee since his contract expired in May. He has now been dismissed.

Homer Glen Village Manager Cameron Davis has been booted from the role, with Mayor George Yukich citing a lack of business growth and a desire to move “in a different direction.”

Davis began in the role in August 2011, after being hired by former mayor Jim Daley.

Yukich said Davis’ dismissal is not related to performance, but that the village must make bigger strides in business development.

“We need some businesses here,” Yukich told the Chicago Tribune.

Davis was selected after a two-month long search that yielded 77 applicants for the job. Davis offered two decades of municipal government experience. He had previously served as the village administrator in Cary. He also worked in DeKalb, Woodridge and Wheaton.

Assistant Village Manager Heather Kokodynsky has taken over the position in the interim, and will remain for the foreseeable future.

It’s Yukich’s latest shakeup since he was elected in April. He also previously hired a new law firm—Mahoney, Silverman & Cross—to replace Odelson & Sterk. Trustees this month also hired Tria Architecture to complete the design of the new village hall instead of Williams Architects, which had been Daley’s pick in May 2014.
