Homer Glen Welcomes American Legion

HOMER GLEN, IL — At the village board meeting on June 26, Mayor George Yukich welcomed the new American Legion with proclamation and a presentation of a plaque, the village said. The Pfc. Michael C. Olivieri Memorial American Legion Post 2011 is located in Marian Village, 15624 Marian Drive.

The post is named in honor of Pfc. Michael C. Olivieri, a Homer Glen man, who was one of five killed in June 2011 in Baghdad during an attack on his base, the village said.

Eagle Scout Recognized

The village also recognized Eagle Scout Alex Woracheck from Homer Glen. Woracheck was presented with a certificate from Yukich and he spoke about his Eagle project.

The village said Worachek worked with Comfort Fur Kids and collected 1,818 stuffed animals to be given to children undergoing treatment or surgery at John H. Stroger Hospital.
