Homer Junior High Baseball Team Heads To State Tournament
HJHS will face Minooka Junior High School on Friday at 10 a.m. in the first round of the tournament.
HOMER GLEN, IL — The Homer Junior High School boys baseball team won a sectional championship title in a 5-1 victory over Lemont's Old Quarry Middle School, the district said.
With its sectionals victory, the team has advanced to the IESA Class 3A state tournament, which will be held at Eastside Centre in East Peoria.
According to the IESA website, HJHS will face Minooka Junior High School on Friday at 10 a.m. in the first round of the tournament. The winner of the game will move on to the semifinals, which will be played on Saturday. The winner of the semifinals game will play in the state championship at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

HJH is 13-1-0, and Minooka is 16-2-0, according to the IESA website.
Other teams in the state tournament include: Unity Junior High School from Tolono, Alton Middle School, Summit Hill Junior High School in Frankfort, Williamsville Junior High School, Morton Junior High School and Kingsley Junior High School in Normal.
