Homer Junior High honors students who demonstrate exemplary character

Integrity is an important trait, and Homer Junior High School students know it.

Each quarter, the school honors those who demonstrate exemplary character with a Principal’s Breakfast. On Friday (Nov. 6), 60 students were treated to a hot breakfast of French toast, scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon and sausage links.

“Congratulations and thank you for a wonderful first quarter,” Principal Troy Mitchell told students as they gathered in the school cafeteria.

The students were nominated for the honor by teachers.

“Our teams of teachers reach consensus and nominate approximately 10 students per team,” said Meagan Doornbos, the dean of students at Homer Junior High.

“The purpose is to encourage students to continue to act with integrity and recognize those who stand out for doing so,” she added.

Among those honored Friday were: Anthony Zizzo, Cameron Raithel, Kenny Kriha, Madyson Box, Justin Waddell, Brianna Kliros, Payton Collins, Mackenzie Kesteloot, Trevor Shingler, Hillary Austin, Sydney Bush, Eric Novak, Ryan Rowe, Elijah Banks, Bridget Jeffries, Brendan Slota and Megan Kohley.

Also honored were: Helene Simmons, Yasmin Alaya, Brandon Arnold, Matthew Santarelli, Sanabelle Zidan, Korryn Swedko, Abigail Varkalis, Emma Rosales, Skye Beaver, Riley Pfeiffer, Elisabeth Nacino, Liam Horan, Jazmyne Murillo, Natalie Batshon, Ava Adams, Zachary Gorman, Zachary Tucci, Abigail Trainor, Bianca Torres, Kaia Hsu, Martin Rickevicius and Anthony Potesta.
