Homer TWP. Proposed Event Center to competes with Private Sector
Is Government competing with private business socialism?

The Homer Township Supervisor said the Township garage sale "Junk in the Trunk" "must make a profit." Since they need money to fund the proposed EVENT CENTER
The Discussion of the Event Center at the Trantina Farm will move to the next phase hiring a professional for site planning and grants to look at what is needed to build a center for Weddings, Rentals, Meetings, etc. as a will be a profit center. They want this to help support Open Space into the Future.
There is no discussion of the cost of maintenance, and management. There is no discussion of a tax to pay for the management and maintenance, nor a discussion of Bonding. There is no mention to this event center being in direct competition to every Restaurant, Bar, and Banquet Hall in the area. There are some very negative consequences involved with the Township getting into a for Profit Business competing with business's that pay taxes. I think government competing with business is a form of Socialism because the government collects taxes, regulates private business, and pays for maintenance, upkeep, and management with taxpayer dollars, creating an unfair competition for already struggling businesses.
Know Farm, Dinolfo's, Old Oak, Rubi Agave, Tazza, Combs Corner, Embers, Anthony's Purple Onion or any other private business loosing business to the Township Event Center takes away from their bottom line and could push them to move to a better location in a surrounding town causing a loss of Sales Tax and another empty store front or building.
