Joliet Gunman Shot Up House, Said Teenage Victim Owed Him Money: Lockport Police

LOCKPORT, IL — A Joliet man has been charged after shooting at a Lockport home in December, Lockport Police told Patch.

On Dec. 16, Lockport Police received a call for gunshots on West Teton Drive. Police said officers were notified that a townhouse in the area had been struck by gunfire.

Police found a 16-year-old victim, who told police he had been confronted by a person, now identified as Angel Lopez, 19, of Joliet. Lopez was upset because he felt the victim owed him money, according to police.

After a "verbal confrontation," the victim returned to his home and heard four to five gunshots, police said. Officers found three locations on the victim's house that were struck with bullets.

Police said officers also found shell casings and bullets from a .45-caliber handgun recovered at the scene.

According to Lockport Police, after an "exhaustive investigation," they were able to identify Lopez as a suspect and got a warrant for his arrest. He was arrested on March 2 by the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force.

He was booked into Will County Adult Detention Facility on March 2, and will appear in court on Tuesday.
