Plan on heading to Nik and Ivy Brewing, 1026 S. State, Lockport on Wednesday January 18 for some great stories. The ladies are in the house for Stories R Us beginning at 6:30 with music with Harold McCay followed by Stories at 7:00. Five fab storytellers share their tales. Amy Curtis, Meredith Morris, Mary Vlahos, Katie Ward, and host Barbara Eberhard.
Amy Curtis was an early participant in the inspired! live lit storytelling classes and told her first story in 2019. She believes stories express our common humanity and connect us to one another. Amy paints, feeds her backyard birds, is curious about almost everything and enjoys a good book and a good cup coffee above most all other things. She is a local real estate agent and a Lockport resident.
Worse than ‘Abraham Lincoln slept here,’ Meredith Morris has lived in Chicago and its suburbs in all directions before landing in Lockport for nuptial reasons in 2018. She holds a master’s degree in journalism and has a professional background in communications for mostly non-profit organizations, including The Morton Arboretum. Changing careers, she owned a company focused on helping older people downsize and deal with their lifelong accumulations of stuff. She now works in the senior living industry and lives as minimally as she can with her husband and cat.

Mary Vlahos has worked in horticulture 25 years, mostly in retail assisting folks with plant selection and design. Has found that in working with individuals one can learn a lot. Is fascinated by tools-how things work-are made. Loves to be outdoors, enjoys shoveling snow, or working up a good sweat on a hot humid day. Is delighted by a well-turned phrase and just really digs words in general. Has pondered with gratitude about the 1st person who ever made a pie crust. Loves to share good food & has great appreciation for a well-developed sense of humor. Did she mention her grandson? Yep, over the moon.
In the pre-pandemic world, Katie Ward started storytelling with Inspired Live Lit.
