HOMER GLEN, IL — Homer Township Public Library's newest Little Free Library can now be found at the Homer Township's Trantina Dog Park on 151st Street. Executive Director Sheree Kozel-La Ha said that the library staff will serve as stewards for the library and will regularly add items and check on it.

The library was donated by the Will County Reading Council, she said.

Another Little Free Library is planned for the entrance of Heritage Park, but the library is waiting for weather to warm up, Kozel-La Ha said.

"There is power in having a book of your own, and we relish being able to undertake this type of community book initiative," she said. "People visit the park or other areas and simply can open the box and take home a free item or two, or donate items that they have."

The first Little Free Library in town was installed at Sendra Park, 14727 Greenbrier Lane, in Homer Glen, according to the library. There is also a Little Free Library outside the Homer Township Library and at Konow's Corn Maze and Farm, and there are various personal Little Free Libraries in the town as well.

"We happily take on the steward role [for the libraries] and periodically put out the call for more donations," Kozel-La Ha said. "This is certainly a community of readers and people are eager to offer items."
