Local Authors Give Reading At Heritage Village

The reading will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Heritage Village, 249 W. Second St., in Lockport.

LOCKPORT, IL — Local authors David Masciotra and Beth McDermott will give a reading from their newly released books at Will County Historical Museum's Heritage Village on Oct. 1.

The reading will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Heritage Village, 249 W. Second St., in Lockport. There will also be food and drinks offered.

McDermott said this is the final weekend that Heritage Village will be open to visitors.

McDermott is the author of "Figure 1" and "How to Leave a Farmhouse." Her poetry has also appeared in Pine Row, Tupelo Quarterly, Terrain.org, and Memorious. She is an Associate Professor of English at the University of St. Francis. She has also won first place in the Regional Mississippi Valley Poetry Contest.

Masciotra will is the author of "I Am Somebody: Why Jesse Jackson Matters," "Mellencamp: American Troubadour," "Barack Obama: Invisible Man," and "Metallica by Metallica," a 33 1/3 book from Bloomsbury Publishers, which has been translated into Chinese. In 2010, Continuum Books published his first book, Working On a Dream: The Progressive Political Vision of Bruce Springsteen.
