Lockport Approves Appointment Of New Alderman

The appointment comes after the unexpected death of Alderman Larry Schreiber last month.

LOCKPORT, IL — At Wednesday's meeting, the Lockport City Council approved the appointment of a new alderman. The appointment comes after the unexpected death of Alderman Larry Schreiber last month.

The council approved the appointment of Patrick McDonald to fill the vacancy. McDonald will serve in the position until the April 4 election, when the unexpired 2-year term of the Ward 2 seat will be up for election.

State municipal code dictates that an appointment must be made to fill an alderperson vacancy within 60 days after the vacancy occurs.

According to council documents, McDonald has been a Lockport resident for 43 years. He has previously served as a commissioner of the Lockport AYSO 717 soccer program.

McDonald is also the owner of Andromeda Technology Solutions, which is located in Lockport.
