Lockport Approves Appointments For Commissions

The council approved appointments to its police pension board, board of police commissioners, plan and zoning commission and more.

LOCKPORT, IL — At its Wednesday meeting, the Lockport City Council approved several appointments and reappointments to some of the city commissions and board.

The council reappointed Nick Arriaga and Ron Lif to 3-year terms for the Heritage and Architecture Commission. The commission reviews applications for demolition, alteration and construction in the historic preservation district in Lockport, according to the City website.

Arriaga would serve as the member-at-large, and Lif as the local historian, council documents state.

Joe Piper was reappointed to the police pension board for a two-year term. The police pension board administers the police pension fund.

Joel Young, a retired federal agent, was appointed to a 3-year term on the Board of Police Commissioners. This board hires and promotes sworn police officers, and could be tasked with disciplinary issues of officers, according to the City website.

The council also approved the reappointments of Ray Sugg, Lance McCalla and Kathryn Ruane, and the appointment of Alderman Darren Deskin to the International Code Council Board of Appeals.

Lastly, the council approved the appointment of Kyle Quinn and reappointment of Aaron Peters to 3-year terms on the Plan and Zoning Commission. The commission reviews all zoning and development plan requests.
