Lockport Approves Facade Grant For Amazing Fantasy Comics

LOCKPORT, IL — Through the City's Facade and Site Improvement Grant Program, the Lockport City Council approved a grant request for Amazing Fantasy Comics.

According to council documents, funds will go to the replacement of the existing wall sign and a new projecting sign at the shop at 113 E. Ninth St.

The Council approved $6,837.50 in funds for the project, $5,950 for the wall sign and electrical modifications and $887.50 for the projecting sign. This year, the City Council has approved $67,589.66 of the $160,000 budgeted for 2022 for this program, according to council documents.

Amazing Fantasy Comics relocated from South State Street into their location on Ninth Street a few years ago. During relocation, their sign was damaged during the move, council documents state.

The full cost of the wall sign replacement will be covered by the program, while 50 percent of the projecting sign cost will be covered.
