Lockport Approves Farrell Road Bike Path Project
Board documents state that the bike path will allow for higher bike and foot traffic and provide a safer route for LTHS students.
LOCKPORT, IL — At its meeting May 15, the Lockport City Council unanimously approved the Farrell Road Bike Path project. According to board documents, the project will include an 8-foot wide bike path installation, landscaping improvements and pedestrian signal installation along Farrell Road, from 167th Street to 163rd Street.
Board documents state that the bike path will allow for higher bike and foot traffic and provide a safer route for Lockport Township High School students traveling to and from the school and its athletic fields.
PT Ferro Construction was the lowest bidder, with an amount of $334,679.92. According to board documents, Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program grant funding will be utilized for this project.

The city will be responsible for $66,935.98, 20 percent of the total cost of the project. The city will also pay an additional $51,800 for the previously awarded phase 3 of the project. In total, the city will pay $118,736.
