Lockport Approves Grant For New VFW Sign

LOCKPORT, IL — At its Wednesday meeting, the Lockport City Council approved a grant request for the Lockport VFW Post 5788.

The grant is through the City's facade and site improvement grant program. The cost would be $10,000 for the City.

The VFW will use the funds for the replacement of its monument sign at 1026 E. Ninth St.

The lowest bid for the sign was $46,632, and the City's grant program allows for a 50 percent match up to $20,000 per facade and $10,000 for site improvements, according to council documents.

The City has approved $74,427.16 so far this year (excluding this request) for its facade grant program. $160,000 was budgeted for 2022 for the program, council documents state.
